The weather forecast promised rain for our coach trip to Oxford. However, no rain came and although chilly we were lucky and did not get wet. The sun made an appearance at 4 pm and due to roadworks we had a scenic ride home. Two coaches went and both drivers were lovely and coaches spot on.
On arrival in Oxford we all made a dash for coffee and then all did various things. Some members spent the entire time in the Ashmolean Museum (Diane has been inspired by the paintings) others walked by the river, shopped, visited the Botanic Gardens. We made for Oxford Castle and although fairly pricey well worth it. We heard tales of the hardships endured by the prisoners and Climbed the Tower for panoramic views over Oxford. It was actually in use as a prison until 1996.
Lunch then called and of course no shortage of choices for refreshments.
We then climbed the Tower at St Katherines Church which was more challenging than the Castle, again worth the climb for the views over Oxford. Our legs did ache a bit the next day I must admit.
All in all another enjoyable 50+ trip-long may they continue.
